Last weekend we went camping in Moab with the Wrights, and despite a really rough start we had a great time.
Let me explain the rough--after about 40 min of driving Jesse says he needs to throw up. Ben is going 80, we have a 25 ft. loaded trailer on the back of us and we are in the middle of a construction zone, he couldn't exactly pull over quick. So I am searching for something for him to spew in, trying to take my seat belt off, and take Jesse's seat belt off with no success. Finally I try and push his head out the window as the spew comes. The wind splashes it all over the inside and outside of the car. It's on him, me, Wyatt's car seat, his car seat, everywhere. So finally when we pull over we get the cleaning supplies out of the trailer to clean the car, and I strip J down and hose him off with the outside shower head that is on our trailer. We change his clothes and get back in and he says he is feeling fine.
We get to Price, get Wendy's drive through and he scarffs his kids meal down. About 20 min. after that he says he needs to spew again. This time we had some plastic bags and he does his business. Only problem is the bag has holes. So we change him again, clean the car again, and now his carseat is down to plastics. So before we drive off we double and triple up the plastic bags incase it happens again.
After that the drive was uneventful till we got to Moab, but when we got there, now about 11pm there wasn't a camping spot to be found. I guess people do go out for UEA. So exhausted and grumpy we decide to just camp in a parking lot in the campground--which they usually will come kick you out--thankfully no one made us move and we were able to stay there for the night. But halfway through the night our heater stopped working and it was freezing. It wouldn't have been so bad if we were prepared and if we didn't have a 8 week old with us. So I put a hat on Wyatt and nuggled him as best I could--not to mention Jesse threw up one more time and we had guests in the trailer with us. Our poor friends. Everyone was cold. No one got any sleep and the kids all woke each other up at about 6am.
But Saturday morning our luck changed and the day was magical, all except for our rhino breaking down after about a 20 min. ride. We found a great campsite just as some girls were leaving and we nabbed it. It was perfect with sand to play in and rocks to climb, plus the slick rock trail head was just across the street. Faith and Haven had a ball with each other and getting dirty. There is nothing better then hiking on red rock in my book.

I even dared to get on my bike after a 5 year hiatus. It was so much fun. I had forgotten how fun mountain biking is. Steph encouraged me to be tough on the slick rock trail. Maybe I won't wait another 5 years to get back into it. Sorry scary spandex.

J, my man, was a stud on his bike. He peddled around like it was nothin. I will post some video later. This guy is going to be a mountain biking king.

Faith wanted me to take a picture of her hiking.

I am happy to report that the drive home was uneventful and no one else got sick. Maybe he just got car sick? Who knows. All in all it was a great weekend.
