Awe, It's Springish Time!

Well, it's not quite spring, but it is reaching 50 degrees and it is marvelous! And to celebrate I signed Ben and myself up for a 5k. Yep, I am going to start to run races this summer. I always wondered why people run races, why pay money to run 3 miles? You can just run 3 miles for free. Well, I need some motivation and accountability. Besides most races are for a good cause. So I plan on doing a 5k, 10k, 10 miler, and then a half marathon in August. Wow, I can't believe I am posting this. I guess I am going to half to keep to my word now. I will let you know how it goes...In the mean time I am going to keep enjoying being outside. Even if my babies have to be a little bundled.

Wyatt Is Sitting Up!

This is my favorite stage! No dragging bouncers or saucers around, just sit him down, hand him a toy, and there he sits. I have been waiting for this day, and last week he mastered it. I still will place a security pillow behind him, but only for insurance purposes. Not bad for a 5 month old eh? Now we'll just have to put off the crawling for a bit and savor the moment.

Stitches #2

Poor J had an accident while jumping around. While standing on my dresser he was excitedly telling me how big of a jump and trick was was going to do onto my bed, when he accidentally stepped off the side of the dresser with one foot, hit his groin on the side of the dresser and then caught his mouth on the open drawer of my nightstand. All the while I am nursing Wyatt on the bed. I knew it was bad before I even got to him. So I quickly, but gently laid Wyatt down, swooped Jesse up, noticed a slit in his lip, ran into the next room and frantically called every number I know by heart to get someone to come watch my other kiddies. Finally my dad picked up and ran down. Then I called my bro-in-law, who is a fabulous surgeon, to see if he could stitch him up. He didn't answer so I called my sister and she said to just head down to his office and she would call his nurse. So I stuck J in the car with a rag full of ice in the car and raced down to Ray's office. Once there we got the typical Ray--4 Star treatment. As soon as I walked in, we were taken back and Ray had him stitched up in about 10 min. Beats hours of waiting in the ER right? Plus we had the advantage of a highly skilled surgeon putting J's beautiful face back.

J was a stud through it all. As soon as I mentioned stitches he calmed down and said it wasn't so bad, he wouldn't need stitches. Then after he said, "Mom, Ray's a way better Dr. than our other Dr. I couldn't even feel it when he gave me a shot. The other Dr. is way ouchy." I was trying to be calm and tough, but while I was holding his hand and watching Ray do his handy work I almost passed out. So I went and sat across the room with my head between my legs and J did it all on his own. That's my little man.
